What do I need to know about traveling to Canada with minor children?

  1. Whether flying or driving, if a minor child is crossing into Canada without one or both of their custodial parents, they need a letter of authorization from their parent(s) saying they’re allowed to enter Canada https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/minor-children-travelling-canada.html

  2. A minor child travelling without one or both custodial parents must still have the right identification (a passport if flying, or a birth certificate, passport, passport card, or NEXUS card if driving) on top of this letter of authorization

  3. It is recommended that this letter of authorization be notarized
