What do I need to drive into Canada?

  1. If you have a passport, you can use it to cross at a land border into Canada. 

  2. Any American citizen from any state can also drive into Canada using a Passport Card. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/card.html or a NEXUS card https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/nexus/how-apply 

  3. American citizens from MICHIGAN, NEW YORK, MINNESOTA, WASHINGTON STATE (not Washington, DC), or VERMONT can apply for enhanced licenses from their DMV 

  4. Children under 16 driving into Canada only need to show proof of citizenship, and are able to cross with only a birth certificate
